The Beginning

OK.  Here we are.  Errrr...here I am.  This is my blog,... about beer.  I kinda like it.  Drinking it and now making it.  This blog shall be my journal of notes about beers I drink and/or beers I make.  There may be non-beer related posts too.  But for the most part there will be stories, recipes, pics, and general what not about beer.

The purpose of this blog is for me to remember beers I try, record lessons learned while brewing, and give me something to look back on while I'm retired, sitting on my porch, and drinking an awesome homebrew.  I realize some may stumble upon this blog, but my intent is not to entertain, make money, or become a writer.  If you have stumbled upon this and are still reading, BEWARE:  there will be spelling and gramatical errors.  The pictures might not be focused.  My blog will not be a polished work of art.  Feel free to follow the blog or comment, but if you expect perfection or professionalism, look elsewhere.  I'm just a dude with a bad memory that likes beer.  This will serve as my memory.

Now, on with show.

I've brewed one beer so far.  A very basic IPA from a very basic recipe given to me by a very basic homebrew store.  And it tastes pretty basic.  I've learned a few lessons from that beer making experience that I hope will pay off on my next brew day.  Which may be really soon.  Wife and kids are leaving town for a couple nights, which gives me the needed 4-5 hours uninterrupted to brew.  I'm going to make a red ale this time.  I found a recipe online that sounds tasty.   http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/04/red-ale-for-beginning-homebrewers-hoppy-red-ale-recipe.html   I might tweek a few numbers, but this is generally what I'm shooting for.

Well, duty calls.  Baby's cryin'.  Next I will post my lessons learned from the first brew day.
